The weather has been wonderful for walking through the Hanwell Recreation Park and throughout our beautiful community and sub-divisions with our families (including our four-legged family members). With fall upon us and the changing of the leaves, it’s a gorgeous time to be out and about.
We have recently been informed of issues with aggressive or angry dogs scaring and attacking others in the Park. If your pup cannot contain his/her enthusiasm or “anger issues” when encountering other others, the Park may not be the best place for them to get their daily exercise, especially on the off-leash sections of the trail. If you suspect that your dog has these issues, and you do choose to use the Park for Fido’s walks, please keep them on a leash at all times, even in the off-leash areas, and consider the use of a harness and/or safety muzzle so that accidents don’t happen. Our Dog Leash Policy #2018-01 states, “The owner or the person in charge of the dog is legally responsible for their dog(s) and any injuries or damage caused by their dog(s)” (you can find it here.)
It is equally important to keep dogs on a leash at all times when walking throughout our community and sub-divisions. For the safety of your pet from other animals or vehicles, and for all those you encounter; it is important to maintain control of him/her when walking about. Even the friendliest pup who “isn’t usually like that” can have a bad day!
We wish everyone to feel safe to enjoy their neighbourhoods and the Park, and a little consideration can go a long way.
Your support and understanding are sincerely appreciated.
