We are one of the largest LSDs, with a tax base of over $250,000,000.
To put that in perspective, our tax base is similar to communities such as New Maryland and larger than towns such as Grand Bay, Westfield, and St. Andrews.
We have a population of approximately 3500. There are somewhere in the vicinity of 1500 families and 114 businesses.

Since November 2006, a working group comprised of dedicated citizens and landowners from all over the Hanwell Local Service District (LSD) have been working with the Rural Planning District Commission (RPDC) to develop the Hanwell LSD Rural Plan.
