TEMPERATURE PREPAREDNESS:
As we head into an extremely bitter cold weekend, please keep in mind, a few things:
-Be prepared for possible power outages.
-Keep heat regulated in your home, so that there are no large demands on the power circuits all at once.
-Have a little cash on hand, in case debit machines are down.
-Top up vehicles, generators, and ventilate properly. (Never use a generator, propane or BBQ, inside an enclosed area).
-Many heat pumps don’t work after certain temperatures. If you have baseboard heaters, set them all for at least 10 degrees, so that if the heat pump stops, the baseboard heaters will come on. (Check your manuals for details).
-Use the “buddy” system and check on your neighbors.

Our Emergency Committee will be monitoring the situation, and will open the Community Centre in Hanwell, and Upper Kingsclear, for warming centres, if required.
If you haven’t signed up for our emergency alerts on Sentinel, please do, by going to our website, clicking on Sentinel, and following the directions.
If you have questions or concerns over the weekend, my email and phone messages will be monitored.
