We would like to introduce the Healthy Aging Champion Program.
Hanwell seniors who are at least 60 years old, who embrace healthy living, and who are willing to share their positive life experiences with their peers within the community and surrounding area, are encouraged to volunteer as Healthy Aging Champions. This is a new program being sponsored by the Province of New Brunswick’s Seniors and Healthy Aging Secretariat.
Healthy Aging Champions encourage others to find ways to stay physically active, keep socially engaged and practice a healthy lifestyle. Champions might promote seniors’ exercise groups or help set up age friendly committees. Champions are expected to talk with their fellow seniors about healthy aging and the importance of remaining active as a person ages.
Program components, including the responsibilities and expectations of Champions, are explained in the link below.
